Avon Theatre Breaks Ground on Ambitious Avon Recreated Transformation Project in Stamford

The Avon Theatre – Deborah & Chuck Royce Cinema Arts Center has officially launched Avon Recreated, a visionary expansion project set to redefine the independent cinema experience in Stamford. During a ceremonial groundbreaking event, community leaders and supporters celebrated the start of a multi-million dollar transformation that honors the venue's 87-year legacy while integrating cutting-edge technology and enhanced accessibility for future generations.

The upgraded campus will feature three state-of-the-art screening rooms, including a dedicated space for educational programming and emerging filmmakers. Patrons can look forward to luxury stadium seating, 4K HDR BARCO laser projection, and immersive Dolby Atmos sound. The facility will also introduce a welcoming new café and wine bar, serving as a social hub to foster community engagement and connection within the vibrant downtown Stamford arts district.

Construction is slated for completion in September 2027, with a grand public reopening scheduled for late October.
