This investment significantly elevates industry standards for VRC quality and installation efficiency, substantially reducing customer costs and project timelines. It reinforces BHS's leadership in vertical material handling innovation, assuring future product development and robust operational reliability for clients.
BHS, Inc., a premier manufacturer of custom material handling solutions, has significantly upgraded its 148,000-square-foot manufacturing campus in St. Louis, Missouri. This strategic enhancement includes a new, dedicated 34-foot-tall testing space specifically designed for vertical reciprocating conveyors (VRCs). This specialized area dramatically improves BHS’s quality assurance process, allowing for comprehensive testing, inspection, and calibration of fully assembled VRCs before shipment.
This investment directly benefits customers by enabling BHS to pre-assemble and pre-calibrate VRCs, which significantly reduces on-site installation time, minimizes operational disruptions, and lowers overall project costs and complexity. According to Trent Boothe, Technical Sales Manager at BHS, “Assembled and pre-calibrated VRCs can install in half the time, or even less,” potentially saving tens of thousands compared to traditional on-site assembly. The modular design of the testing area also supports the development and validation of various VRC heights, including custom models, and allows for rigorous testing of integrated control systems.
The enhanced VRC testing facility underscores BHS's ongoing commitment to innovation and product development, supporting its diverse line of Hydraulic Cantilever, Mechanical Straddle, and custom VRCs. These solutions are crucial for safely and efficiently moving materials across multiple levels in applications ranging from mezzanine access to distribution centers. As demand for advanced vertical material handling solutions continues to grow, this upgraded testing area provides BHS with the essential flexibility and capacity to meet future customer requirements and expand its industry-leading offerings.
