This recognition underscores the critical importance of high-performing rural healthcare facilities for community well-being and access to quality care. By celebrating data-driven excellence, CRHC elevates industry standards, inspiring continuous improvement and strengthening essential health infrastructure, vital for resilient rural communities.
The Colorado Rural Health Center (CRHC) proudly announced the recipients of its prestigious "Top 10 Rural Healthcare Facility for Overall Performance, 2026" awards. Presented at The Colorado Rural Healthcare Conference, these accolades celebrate rural hospitals and clinics across the state demonstrating an unwavering commitment to quality care, innovation, and dedicated service to their communities. CRHC CEO Michelle Mills emphasized the critical importance of local healthcare, stating, "Now more than ever, having care locally is vitally important for rural communities. We are proud to recognize these 10 facilities that exemplify a spirit of service while delivering high quality care, close to home."
Now in their second year, the CRHC's Top 10 Rural Healthcare Facilities Awards are determined using robust, established performance tools. The Top 5 Rural Hospitals are identified through the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance INDEX®, a comprehensive evaluation of operational and financial areas. For Rural Health Clinics, the Top 5 awardees are selected based on data from the Stroudwater Associates Rural Health Clinic Financial Dashboard, evaluating key criteria including preventive care efficiency, administrative effectiveness, clinical throughput, staffing stability, and revenue cycle management. This rigorous methodology ensures recognition of truly outstanding performance.
The esteemed 2026 awardees include: Top Five Rural Hospitals: Aspen Valley Hospital, East Morgan County Hospital, Family Health West, Grand River Health, and Rio Grande Hospital. Top Five Rural Clinics: Gunnison Valley Health Family Medicine, Mt. San Rafael Clinic, Rangely Family Medicine, Rio Grande Clinic, and Southwest Primary Care. Mills lauded the recipients, asserting, "These facilities represent a year of hard work, collaboration, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. Congratulations to all awardees, truly an asset to your communities!"
