Hero Awards and Afghan Women Rising Launch Global AI Engine for Sustainability

The Hero Awards and Afghan Women Rising have launched an ambitious initiative to build the world's largest solution engine for the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals. By systematically transforming the UN’s 169 targets into specialized AI prompts for platforms like OpenAI’s GPTs, Gemini, and Claude, this project creates autonomous assistants capable of driving continuous, actionable progress toward global sustainability.

A core component of this mission involves young women in Afghanistan who, despite being barred from formal education by the Taliban, are actively designing these AI protocols. Program Director Amy Chang emphasizes that this work allows these women to bypass educational restrictions while building vital technical skills for the future. Their efforts are deeply inspired by J. Kutcher’s metaphors of growth, turning digital development into a tool for both personal empowerment and global impact.

The initiative has rapidly expanded to include diverse international partners, including the People's Archive of Rural India, Siku.org, and various indigenous organizations across Africa, Australia, and the Amazon. By fostering a global network of innovators who document oral histories and local needs, the Hero Awards are creating a scalable, community-driven framework that bridges the digital divide and accelerates progress on critical international development milestones.
