Los Angeles Volunteers Address Mental Health Crisis with Community Outreach and Practical Resources

The mental health crisis continues to challenge American communities, with recent studies highlighting significant stress levels among young adults and a declared crisis among youth by the CDC. In response to this urgent need, volunteers from the Hubbard Dianetics Foundation of Los Angeles launched a coordinated outreach initiative. This effort aimed to provide practical resources and support for emotional well-being across various Los Angeles neighborhoods, including Downtown LA, Santa Monica Pier, and Panorama City.

The outreach coincided with the anniversary of Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health by L. Ron Hubbard, a book now in circulation globally for over 75 years. Volunteers engaged with residents, students, and families, offering free stress tests and answering questions about Dianetics and its techniques. These interactions allowed individuals to explore an approach designed to help address the sources of stress, anxiety, and unwanted emotions, fostering a renewed sense of hope, as exemplified by a visitor who found optimism after a life-altering accident.

This local activity was part of a broader international movement, with volunteers in over 250 cities across 50 nations participating in similar initiatives. The Hubbard Dianetics Foundation of Los Angeles continues to offer introductory demonstrations and weekend seminars, making these practical mental health tools accessible to the community. As volunteer Martha Bartolini noted, "Dianetics helps with every part of your life, every stress... That's why I want people in Los Angeles to get the same experience and knowledge."
