The August Wilson African American Cultural Center (AWAACC) proudly presents the 16th annual Pittsburgh International Jazz Festival (PIJF), co-presented by Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, from September 17-20, 2026. This year, the festival honors "Our America250," celebrating jazz, soul, blues, gospel, and R&B's profound influence on American culture. Most performances are FREE on Liberty Avenue in downtown Pittsburgh, with additional ticketed concerts at AWAACC.
The PIJF features an exceptional lineup including jazz innovators Terri Lyne Carrington, Orrin Evans, and Sean Jones. Special B.U.I.L.D. artist residencies highlight Eric Roberson and DJ Kid Capri. A tribute to Thelonious Monk, directed by Orrin Evans, and the signature Jazz Train™ are key attractions. Drumming legend Bernard "Pretty" Purdie receives a Lifetime Achievement Award for his iconic contributions to American classics.
